One of the most enjoyable of the Galway races for me is the Headford 8k Road Race which always feels like such a special race.  Last year it was made even sweeter for me by virtue of the fact that I managed to actually win the thing and Eamon had his work cut out trying to wrestle the trophy back from me for this year.

However he did prevail in the end and you too have a chance of getting your name on the cup alongside such prestigous names as Gary Thornton, Paul McNamara, Seamus Gilhooly and of course myself :-).  Hey I might as well milk it – I may never win another!! 

It's a relatively fast course but it has a drag that will knock the wind out of you if you aren't quite fit and also has one of those last k's where the end seems to take forever to arrive.  So off with you to Headford on Saturday week and enjoy it!  No excuses!  Did I mention that I won it in 2008?
