Craughwell AC athletes excelled at the Connacht U9 to U12 Track & Field Championships at the weekend where the club had huge numbers taking part on a fine sunny day at Sligo IT's track. With clubs from all over Connacht in action the club's athletes took home almost a quarter of the medals awarded on the day, by far the top performance of any of the Connacht clubs. In the U9-11 team pairs, Craughwell finished in the top three with 16 team pairs – with Westport the next strongest club with 10 successful team pairs and Athenry and GCH next each with 7 team pairs. This success was replicated in the U12 age group where Craughwell medalled in 10 individual events with Westport and Athenry next with 5 individual medals. And the relays continued this trend with Craughwell featuring on the winners’ podium in 7 of the 8 races.
