With the National League and the Galway Indoors on today and tomorrow, its a busy weekend for the club. Best of luck to all our competitors.
Today saw several of the club’s athletes take part in the National Indoor League with Ciana Reidy making history in becoming the first juvenile from the club to take part in the indoor pole vault, where she cleared 1.80m – a very impressive performance off limited practise and of course a club junior record! Check out current records here:- https://www.craughwellac.com/site/images/statistics/2017.01.14.indoorrecords.pdf
Laura Cunningham threw the 4kg shot over 7.70m while Sinead Treacy had a good early season jump of over 4.80m in the long jump and a good performance in the 60m sprint as did Sarah Finnegan in the 60m hurdles. Sinead Gaffney had a strong season opener in the 800m in a time of 2.24/2.25. Full results are posted on AAI Website. Craughwell AC’s womens team did very well placing 4th overall.
Eyes now turn to tomorrow for an action packed day from 9am to 7pm for the Galway Indoor track & field. With over 220 athletes from the club, taking part its going to be a busy day. Hopefully shortly after the indoors, I will have an update on the club’s indoor age group bests … the current version below is well out of date but our hard-working FAS assistant Cecelia has been doing alot of work on updating our results statistics over the last number of months and I should be able to get an update out on this within a week or 2 of the indoors. The current version is from 2013:- https://www.craughwellac.com/site/images/attachments/indooragegrouprecords.pdf
