Juveniles and Seniors in Action in Killimor

Well done to Thomas and Mary Porter for their organisation of a great 4-mile race in Killimor at the weekend. Over 40 juveniles took part in the juvenile fun run at 1pm, with many Craughwell AC athletes featuring prominently. Keeping the prizes in the family, David and Linda Porter ran fine races to take 3rd place in the boys and girls 1 mile races.

The senior race kicked off at 1.30pm with over 60 participants. Craughwell AC had 6 representative in the senior men's race, all of whom ran very well to place the team 4th in the team competition.

The club is slowly putting together a strong pool of senior runners. New recruit James Ferry ran well to come in as second scorer for the team. The times and placing for the seniors were:-

11 Michael Tobin 23.26
20 James Ferry 24.34
32 Tony Nevin 27.12
40 Diarmuid Quill 28.28
52 Tony Fitzpatrick 31.36
60 John Mannion 35.33

The team finished with 103 points in the team event:

1. Athenry 27 pts
2. Loughrea 38 pts
3. Mayo 40 pts
4. Craughwell 103 pts
5. CRH 125 pts
6. Tuam 225 pts

In the juvenile race, the club had great numbers taking part. While only the first 3 boys and first 3 girls were recorded, many of the club's athletes finished in the top 10. Hopefully I don't miss anyone here who took part … David, Linda & Laura Porter, Gabrielle & Andrea Tobin, Tara & Ashling Keady, Katie O'Donoghue, Caoimhe Quill, Debbie Kenny, Sinead Gaffney, Sophie Ralston and her younger brother who'll be joining the club soon I'm sure, the Hannon brothers – Sean, Micheál, Padraic and Paul, the Nevin brothers.
