Maeve Claims First National Senior Title!
A huge well done to Maeve Curley who claimed her first National Senior title today in Santry when winning the 5k race walk at the 2012 Senior Track & Field Championships. This is the 6th National track & field title to come to the club and is the 3rd time an athlete from the club has won this particular title, with Ann Loughnane having won it in 2006 and 2007. Ann also has an indoor title to her name in 2006 while Cathriona Farrell has 2 high jump indoor titles to her name from 2011 and 2012. The full role of honour of previous winners of National titles are at:
This is a huge achievement for Maeve and the club are proud of her success and her dedication. This comes on the back of a solid performance in Switzerland earlier in the summer where Maeve knocked 2:11 off her PB for 10k, completing the race in a time of 48:44 and taking 3rd place in the senior race and first Irish girl home. Maeve was representing Ireland against Britain, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland and France. |
