Martin Corcoran takes National Track Silver!
In a superb club-record performance, Martin Corcoran stormed home in 9:25 over 3K at Nenagh Indoor Track on Saturday to claim the Silver Medal in the National M45 Category. It is the first time that Martin, who generally dominates his age category in every road race around these parts that he enters, has won track honours at national level and it is an outstanding achievement.
Martin grew up a GAA man, and hurling was always his first love (he still plays a bit of Junior hurling from time to time). He got into running in his late thirties and is proof that at any age someone can excel at the highest level at athletics if they have the talent and the discipline to put in the hard work. Most people expect to get slower with age, Martin is doing the opposite – his personal bests have continued to fall year after year. Fair play to you Martin!
