Operation Transformation Coming to Craughwell!!
The world is coming to Craughwell this Saturday!!
Celebrity Operation Transformation are on their way to our Colour Run and 5k Race this Saturday. With the races sponsored by Xyea and Yeats College, what was a relatively big event has become a HUGE event with the TV cameras rolling from 11am to 3pm!!!
Here’s a word from Jill (one of the Producers) to help tease out these stories:-
Our celebs & experts are really looking forward to trying their hand (or foot as it may be) at athletics in Craughwell this Saturday. They’ll be shaking down the grounds in the group Zumba at 11AM & trying keep up with all of you in the colour run at little later. We’re welcoming stories to try & involve as many people as possible so please get in touch & tell me yours jillwalshe@gmail.com See you all Saturday at 11! Jill 🙂
So if you live in Galway, Craughwell is the place to be this Saturday with a busy program of activities for the celebs, their experts, our members and the general public.
The fun starts with the cameras rolling from 11am when everyone will try their hand at ZUMBA dancing led by instructors from our newest addition to the local community FITTSteps Training Studio. Just prior to Zumba, we want to take a massive group shot of everyone with the Operation Transformation team. Your moment to smile on TV 🙂 So please get there early to get into the group shot!!
Then at 11.30am the Operation Transformation celebs and experts will try their hand at athletics under the watchful eye of our coaches, trying their hand at high jump, long jump, hurdles, shot putt and javelin!!! Tokyo 2020 here we come!
After this, the cameras will move into position for our colour run which gets going at 12.30pm. This will be on grass on our new athletics ground beside the school. Its best to wear a white T-shirt for this as you will look messier in it after a good dousing with 6 different colours! Don’t worry about getting rid of the colour afterwards, its washable, edible, unsmellable, everythingelseable paint. The only ones to have to worry are the bleached blondes, so to all the men and women with bleached blonde hairdos, please cover up your hair because it won’t be bleached blonde anymore after the race. (That’s serious by the way, seems there is something about the bleach that makes it stay red green purple blue and yellow afterwards!).
The colour run is on grass with 3 loops of a 350m circuit and a shortcut in the middle for the less energetic. Prepare to get well-coloured!! And we want all local clubs to be welcome to the event – so local GAA, soccer, athletic clubs from all around, cubs, beavers, Foroige, ICA, Active Retirement etc etc you are all most welcome. We want a crowd and it will be amazing fun and ye all might be on the telly! Try not to trip a celebrity or expert on the way around the colour run – we don’t want to interrupt their transformation!
There will be refreshments throughout the day and goodie bags for the kids in the colour run and prizes for the 5k – more details on the prizes tonight. And a tip if not wearing old clothes for the colour run to get the colour out – first soak in COLD water then warm water.
And straight after the colour run, our 5k gets going on the road outside the school at 1.30pm. We are hoping our celebs will be able to launch the 5k and wave the participants off. It depends on how zapped they are have the colour run. So if you are following a celeb and want them to send you on your 5k way, get down to Craughwell this Saturday.
The colour run and 5k are still fund-raisers for our athletics facilities which are being constructed but we are hoping that you have so much fun from being involved that you won’t mind chipping in for the colour run or 5k. Details and link to online registration: https://www.craughwellac.com/site/index.php/5k. We are taking registrations on the day but it saves us some admin if you can get it done online.
The Operation Transformation team will still be there while the 5k is in progress, interviewing celebs and locals with an interesting personal story to tell of their healthy pursuits.
