Miskey leads the way in National Senior Indoors 2023

The National Senior Indoor championships took place this weekend in Abbotstown and featured some excellent performances from Craughwell AC Athletes.  Jack Miskella made Sunday’s final in the 1500m by running 4.01 in a hard-fought heat on Saturday.  The final had a very evenly matched field and the race was very closely packed.  In a ferocious sub-60s last 400m, Jack moved from last place to 5th with a near-pb of 3:56.09. This was Jack’s best ever finish in a national senior…

Records fall like Armagh Apples

Records fall like Armagh Apples

(Terrible headline… sorry! 🙂) In February, Armagh plays host to one of the most competitive 5km road races in the world. The main reason it’s so fast is that it is really hard to get entry to this race, particularly the international 5km for which you need a 5km time of 15:30 or under within the last year. Our lads don’t do many 5km races, so I had been bugging the organiser for the last few months based on equivalent…

Students on fire in IUAA Indoors 2023

Students on fire in IUAA Indoors 2023

The IUAA championships have grown to be one of my favourite days on the athletics calenedar. The atmosphere is chilled out and supportive, the standards are high and you get to watch the best of the next generation of Irish athletes compete for their colleges. Craughwell AC had a good group competing again this year with 5 on the track and one in the field. The race of the day from a track perspective was the stacked men’s 3000m. Aside…

Neil Greaney: a Winning Mindset

Neil Greaney: a Winning Mindset

My name is Neil Greaney. I am a former Craughwell AC member, and have recently qualified with a masters in Mental Skills and Mental Health in Sports and Exercise. This qualifies me to work primarily as a ‘mental skills coach’ or a sports psychologist. My story in Craughwell AC began at the age of 15, when I first attended a training session with the middle-distance group run by 3 very influential coaches in my life – Michael Tobin, Mark Gillen…
