In his third time getting selected for the Itrish team to contest the British and Irish Masters Cross Country, Peter O'Sullivan delivered perhaps the finest run of his life, again. In this year's running in Belfast, Peter finished a superb second in the Irish M35 team, 3rd Irishman home in total, and 11th overall. The run is all the more impressive when you think that Peter is moving up the age category now and is no longer a "young" M35. At this rate however, he will be delivering his finest runs in his 40s. The run was good enough for team Gold.Well done Peter!
Another superb run from a Galwegian was that by Fintan Hyland who was 3rd Irish M40 is getting more and more seriously good with each race. This was the second cross country in a week for Fintan which makes it all the more impressive, and a great advert for basing your diet on cakes and pastries :-).
Results of the BIM are below.
Gerry Ryan marked his name on yet another prestigous Hollymount victory with a time of 32:07. Not content with just the victory, Gerry was slightly disappointed not to break 32, but running the race on your own makes it hard to judge pace sometimes. Matt Bidwell of GCH was second on the day. Another fine perfomance from the living legend of Attymon.
If all this weren't enough – there were some fantastic performances by the next generation of Craughwell AC athletes at the Odd Ages and Intermediate Cross Country in St.Marys. I'll leave the report to Michael, but there were brilliant runs from al the lads yet again.
