Peter takes a national M35 medal in Great Ireland Run
Peter O'Sullivan contuinued his remarkable year by winning a national M35 medal in the great Ireland Run. Not exactly sure of teh color of that medal yet, but we think it's probably a Silver. If you pay close attention to the RTE Player's broadcast of the race you will see him coming in just behind Padraic McKinney. In a great day for him Peter smashed his pb by well over a minute to clock a time of 33:06 over the rolling phoenix park course. 33:06 is a really good time – when you are running the 5k series imagine what it might feel like to run the races twice back to back in 16:33 each time – not easy!!
Perhaps the best of the whole lot was that before the start of the race he got to give the great Kenenisa Bekele a high-5. Bekele is the one of the greatest long distance runners of all time, actually he probably IS the greatest of all time having set incredible world records for both the 5,000m (12:37!) and the 10,000m (26:17!). He won the great run in a record 27:49.
