Report from Clare Open Track & Field

Report from Clare Open Track & Field

Fun, fun, fun was the order of the day at the first leg of the Open Track & Field series in Lees Road Sports Complex, Ennis last Thursday night. The Clare AAI folks put on a wonderful buffet of events and made the visiting Galway team from Craughwell AC feel very welcome.

Peadar Harvey helped himself to a good early season performance of 2:07 for the 800m followed by a win in the 100m and a storming performance in the 4 x 200m relay. Johnny Lane, Liam Nolan and myself made up the rest of this winning team coming home in first position with a 1:48 combined time.

Liam was like a fish in water with strong performances in the 100m & 800m.  I had never been out to this track before and was amazed at this fantastic facility. Seamus Power informed me that they have a new 2K CX track in trough the woods, I’ll be checking that out when we return for next leg on the 3rd June at 7.00pm for the 1Mile & 4 x 400m relay.

As well as been fun these track days are ideal opportunities both for myself and the other lads to get some speed in our legs, I would recommend this to anyone who hasn’t tried it out before.  Details of the up and coming T&F dates are as follows:
