
Sean Cotter Stars in Dungarvan
Making the long journey to Waterford for the 2nd day of the National Cross Country Championships, 21 Craughwell juveniles put in some heroic performances on the muddy Dungarvan surface against the top youngsters from all around the country.
Sean Cotter ran to a superb 11th place in the U13 Boys 2500m, leading his team to 7th place with Gavin Lee 50th, Liam Leen 64th, Sam O’Neill 67th, Shaun Gilligan 101th and Pascal Walsh 124th. In the U11 Girls 1500m Aoibhe Carr raced to a splendid 19th place with Jade Moorhead close behind in 27th place – 1st and 3rd Connacht athlete on the day and leading the team to 7th place in the club competition. Anna Cotter was next in 82nd place followed by Clodagh O’Meara in 122nd (unlucky to take a heavy fall early in the race but recovering brilliantly), Sadhbh Irwin 130th, Erin Doyle 147th and Fauve Aylmer 159th. Evan Hallinan led a strong U11 boys team to 11th place in their 1500m with Evan placing 40th followed by Cian Lavan 58th, Daniel Galvin 69th, Mathys Bocquet 108th, Aaron Doyle 134th and Evan Moran 141st. Siblings Caron and Ben Ryan completed the performances for Craughwell AC with fine runs in their age groups with Caron placing 43rd in the U17 Girls 4000m and Ben taking 53rd place in the U15 Boys 3500m.
