Senior Men contest Galway AAI 10k Championships
For the first time, Craughwell AC fielded a team in the the Galway 10k Road Race Championships at the weekend. The Championships were held as part of the annual Claregalway 10k race.
It was super to get a team out for this event and hopefully something that we can build on for future AAI team events, e.g. cross-country, relays etc.
Craughwell's team, finishing positions and times were :-
Place | Athlete | Time |
15 | Michael Tobin | 36:38 |
59 | Wally Walsh | 42:11 |
63 | Emmett Farrell | 42:41 |
77 | Diarmuid Quill | 44:45 |
81 | Tony Nevin | 44:50 |
110 | John Rafery | 48:15 |
We didn't finish in the medals … but every senior club has to start somewhere and it was fantastic to be able to field a team for the event!
Full results of the event can be found at http://www.galwayathletics.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=125&Itemid=38.
Next race with a team event is the Killimer 4 mile race in September (2nd last weekend of Sept), so hopefully we can contest both men's and women's events that day. So if you're not already out training/jogging, get the running shoes on and get out there!
Circuit training will be resuming shortly also, more details will be sent out on this in the next week or two. Also in the works, we hope to have a meet and train session on a mid-week morning for anyone that is interesting in getting started in the sport of running / jogging. More details to follow on this also.
