Senior Round-up

Senior Round-up

It's been a fantastic month for the senior division, capped off by yesterdays Dublin Marathon.  I have been falling well behind on updating the website in recent weeks and I have pictures galore on my camera that I need to upload to the site.

Key highlights are:

Dublin Marathon Success
Fit4Life guru's Tony Nevin and Tony Fitzpatrick set a massive example of what can be achieved with the right training plan and dedication yesterday.  Tony Nevin led the Craughwell club home with an excellent time of 3:22:18 for his second ever marathon.  This was a superb time by Tony – knocking a whopping 40 minutes of his previous pb!!

His Fit4Life partner Tony Fitzpatrick did a hugely impressive 3:45 for his debut marathon.  This is a great run by Tony and definitely something to be proud of always.

Special mention must go to Michael O'Connor who was first Irishman home, and also to out near neighbors Athenry AC who fielded a massive team and got pb's galore with an incredible 6 runners under 3 hours which shows the strength in depth of the club these days.

Galway Cross-Country
Despite missing two of our first team, Craughwell AC did excellently to get Silver in this years Galway Cross Country.  The first team on the day was:

2. Martin Corcoran
3. Jason Broderick
11. John Lane
13. John Mannion

It was an excellent personal achievement for Martin who was second Senior and first V40, and for Jason who won the county Intermediate title and but for a mix-up in the application form should have received the 3rd Senior medal.

Chicago Marathon PB for Val:
Val and Derverlla finished a marathon in the quickest time of their career in Chicago.  Sadly it was because the Marathon was called off due to the extreme temeratures.  Val was going excellently despite the torrid conditions, and was gutted when they called off the marathon when she had only about 4 miles to go.  Our commiserations go out to them on the huge expense and effort of participating in the event, only to be "robbed" by the treacherous conditions.
