Shauna Thrills at World Championships

In superb conditions, Craughwell’s latest u17 International Shauna Bocquet represented club and country with pride in the World Para Athletics Junior Championships in Notwill Switzerland. Shauna won 3 Gold medals in the 400m, 100m, 1500m and took Silver in both the 200m and 800m.

The popular Shauna will be a familiar face to many Galway athletes, regularly competing on the local and national road racing scene as part of her training, but this was a truly breakthrough week for this talented and dedicated athlete.

Shauna started off events by winning the 400m in a dominant front running display managing to keep her good start from getting eaten up by her strong finishing German opponent (see finish below).  The two athletes would go on to have many battles over the event, often trading places for Gold and Silver.
