Some strong Results for Craughwell Road Runners

as the build up to the Galway 5k series continued, there were some promising results recently for Craughwell AC road runners last weekend.  First off Jason Broderick finished a highly respectable 4th in the Christian Camp of the Arts Salthill 5k in a time of 16:58.  A solid build up to the series and he will go a lot faster in Athenry heed my words!. The Christian Camps 5k managed to shake off it's mixed reputation from previous years with by all accounts a well organised and enjoyable race.  Credit to the new race director Yasmin Reid for turning the event around against the odds, hopefully it will remain a good addition to the race calendar.  The full results are here

In the Colemanstown 10k saw Galway great Paul McNamara lace up his racing flats to win in a creditable time of 32:40.  The former national XC and 10k champion from Athenry has not been racing much in recent years so hopeully this signifies a return to regular competition for him.  There's life in the old dog yet!  Paul Keane of Craughwell AC had a fine performance to come home in 2nd place in a time of 35:47, with Niall Callanan arriving in 4th is a super 38:06.  Full results are here .

So it's all systems go for the 5k series – the running equivalent of a U2 concert in terms of ticket sales.  Make sure to let Tony know if you are available to aid in packing chips and numbers tomorrow night as per the article below, and if you are racing – enjoy it!!
