A big thanks to Mary Kilroy and her team for this article, and for the photos and for resurrecting the local Community Games sports day!

The Scene was set , Our new tartan track was ready, the officials on hand, the sun shone and the athletes shone even brighter. 

A hundred excited athletes ranging in age from over 6 to under 16 took part in 22 different track and field events on Friday evening May the 26th.

Great performances were seen right throughout the age groups. 

We were privileged to be able to use the updated facilities at Craughwell Athletic Club, the tartan just dry after a new 6 lane, 400 metre track had been layed a few days beforehand. 

Our special quest on the day was the Galway County hurling Manager Fergal Healy who officiated at the highly competitive long puck event.

We wish all our winners the very best in the County Community games finals on June the 4th. 

Athletics is truly alive in our small Village where the people have a great love for all things Sport.
