Thornton and O’Shaughnessy run brilliantly in Santry

Top Galway runner Gary Thornton ran a stormer to finish a close 4th today in the national interclubs XC in Santry.  This is a smashing position in a race of this quality, just behind Keith Kelly, Mark Keneally and Vinny Mulvey.  Matt Lockett was Galway's second finisher in 34th position – also a good run.

Update: I didn't notice this earlier, but we also saw an excellent run from popular Galway Junior Laura O'Shaughnessy – she finished 3rd in her event – a smashing performance and I am sure there is much more to come from this promising loughrea athlete.

Keith Kelly was a very popular winner –  he has been plagued with injury for the past few years and had all but given up the sport but made a comeback a few months ago which he tracks in his excellent blog:

Worth a read if you've nothing better to do – he'll be delighted about this one!!!
