
Top Connacht Club at National Senior Indoors
Last weekend, Craughwell AC continued to make its mark on National Senior athletics when 2 athletes from the club medalled in the National Senior Indoor Track & Field. Connacht clubs took home a total 6 medals from the championships which were held in The Odyssey Arena in Belfast. Cathriona Farrell retained her indoor high jump title with some exquisite jumping against a quality field of 12 athletes. Commencing at 1.60m and clearing every height on her first attempt, Cathriona was the only athlete to clear 1.70m and in the process claimed the gold medal. Making her debut at the National Senior Indoors, Maeve Curley took a fine bronze in the 3000m race walk with a PB of 13.44.10. It was an impressive performance by the club to claim 2 medals in the program of 13 events. Completing the Connacht tally, Sligo’s Alberto Sanchez and Eimear O’Brien both won bronze in the 3000m, with GCH’s Sean Breathnach taking gold in the shot putt and Mohill’s Laura Reynolds taking gold in the race walk. |
