There's something in the water in Tuam this year. Record numbers are lining up to run this years event. I just got word from Brendan that they are minutes from reaching the magical 300 number – which is exactly how many socks they have!
Fastest Town in Ireland:
It promises to be a sensational Tuam 8k with not just the biggest but also the fastest field I have ever seen for the event. Craughwell AC men will field a "B" team since most of our "A" members will be taking part in the national novice XC in Tullamore, however GCH are putting their best foot forward and will be strongly favoured to take most of the top spots. With Gary Thornton lining up, it will be a course record that's for sure. Also be on the lookout for a tough battle between in-form GCH antipodean Matt Bidwell and Craughwell AC supervet Gerry Ryan. Predictions: 1.G.Thornton 23:50, 2. G.Ryan 24:45, 3. M.Bidwell 25:30
