Just under 200 lined up at the start of a magnificent inaugral 10k in Clarinbridge on Sunday. The weather was amazing and the course even more so. It was a really brilliant race and full credit is due to the organisers who did an imacculate job. John Byrne came home as first man, leading the way from the off. John has probably ran more road races than anyone in Connaught over the last 6 years and he told me afterwards that he felt this was the best course he had run on for many years, if not ever.
I can only agree with him – about 3 miles of this event was run through wooded trails and much of the rest of the course was on private grounds and very very quiet rolling country roads. It's an absolutely amazing route – I couldn't praise it highly enough. Great work GCH for marking it out as it felt very accurate to me (though I didn't have a watch). The Craughwell results are below – notable achievements are the big PB for Peter O'Sullivan who ran a great 2nd half and also to Val Fogarty who despite reservations at the start of the race managed to come home with second place in the Female U45 category behind Michelle Lynch of GCH.
Full results are here – congrats to all that took part.
