Victory For Peadar Harvey in Inaugural Galway City Mile
The busy city centre streets of Galway was the venue for a festival of running at the weekend, with the inaugural Galway City Marathon talking place on Sunday. The event was preceded on Saturday evening by an Open Mile and an Elite Mile. Peadar Harvey had a magnificent victory in the Open Mile, just beating GCH's Keith Fallon in a sprint finish with Peter O'Sullivan finishing strongly in 3rd place to put 2 Craughwell AC runners on the winners podium – fine performances all around but in particular a fantastic performance by Peadar who still has a year left in the juvenile ranks. This makes it 1-1 for Peadar and Peter, with Peter having had the upper hand in the Galway track & field during the summer. Peadar is pictured across receiving his award from Irish running legend Frank O'Mara who was a key speaker at the earlier Sports Conference along with the O'Sullivan legends Sonia and Marcus. Jamie Spelman also did the club proud when finishing in 2nd place in the juvenile race. |
