Wonderful Day of Colour!

Wonderful Day of Colour!

The club had such a fantastic day on Saturday at our Yeats College Colour Run and Xyea Family 5k and with the Operation Transformation team.

After a whirlwind few days since Tuesday when the Operation Transformation team selected our event for their final challenge, a huge effort from an army of helpers within the club got the show on the road early Saturday morning. The Operation Transformation team arrived around 9.30am and it was pretty much non-stop action from then on. I won’t stay too much about it until the show goes out on air on Wednesday night at 9.35pm but it was such an amount of fun for everyone … the celebs, the experts and Craughwell AC. Thankfully our high jump bar survived the challenge and is still intact!

The highlight of the day was the colour run where over 400 people took part. It was like a scene out of a war movie when the colour bombs were thrown in the air at the race start – remarkable scenes and something to look forward to on Wednesday night when we get to see it properly on RTE.

The club had a good turnout also for its inaugural Family 5k with the family trophy being won in style by the Noonan triplets. Full results are here:- 5kresults.pdfWell done to all of the participants and in particular the prize-winners:-

The club have a huge number of people and organisations to thank and we will get a full list up here later in the week but I just wanted to give special mention to our race sponsors Yeats College and Xyea for their very generous sponsorship of the races. Pictured below is Pat Reidy of Xyea presenting the Family Trophy to the fastest family in the 5k race – the famous Noonans! And Terry Fahy of Yeats College presenting a sponsorship cheque to the club accepted on behalf of the club by a colourful Mike Tobin.
