Wrap Up of Indoor Season

Wrap Up of Indoor Season

The past weekend saw the end of the indoor track and field season and all eyes now turn towards the outdoor season with the first event getting underway this Friday with the Universities Track & Field followed later this month by the first of the Dublin Graded Meets and the U13 to Senior Galway Track & Field.

The indoors saw a number of new club junior and senior records set by U18 trio Jerry Keary, Ciana Reidy and Laura Cunningham. Jerry set a new club junior and senior record in the high jump with a leap of 1.98m and followed this up with a new club junior record of 6.19m in the long jump. Laura broke both the club junior and senior record in the triple jump with her winning leap of 10.55m last weekend while Ciana set club junior and senior records in the pole vault with her jump of 2.20m in the National League.

The club had huge participation at county, regional and national level across the indoor season as evidenced by the size of our bill with almost €3500 spent on entries fees over the season, the best participation by far of any Connacht club. And the club out performed in the medal stakes too with 3 National titles, 2 silvers and 7 bronze coming our way. The medallists were:-
